Journal #22: Dreams Chapter 4
Part 1In discussing his struggle to understand his racial identity, Obama explains:
"... the only thing you could choose as your own was withdrawal into a smaller and smaller coil of rage, until being black meant only the knowledge of your own powerlessness, of you own defeat" (84)
- What does he mean? Why does he use this language?
